Lisa Adams' work at a children's home before attending graduate school motivated her to pursue a career with the chance to positively impact children's lives.

"It was there that I realized I could not do much for the children in terms of permanency," Ms. Adams said. "I was able to talk with them and spend time with them but ultimately had no effect on what happened to them once they walked out the door to return home."

Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for Caring for Kids, an organization that provides essential resources to meet the urgent needs of children involved with the Family Court system in the St. Louis area. Ms. Adams said her legal background combined with her master's degree and training in social work allows her to effectively communicate with her clients.

"I have empathy for what they are experiencing, and (the background) gives me the opportunity to offer ideas for other services should the client need them," Ms. Adams said.

Ms. Adams is licensed in Missouri.

Education

Ms. Adams graduated from Washington University with a Law Degree. She also obtained a Master of Social Work from George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Washington University.

Experience

While in law school, she mediated adult abuse cases and was in the Civil Justice Clinic. Ms. Adams also interned at the St. Charles County Prosecutor's Office in the Victims of Crime Program. Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, Ms. Adams was the co-author of the article "Foster Youth and Dating Violence," featured in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence.

Awards

In 2008, Ms. Adams was a member of the Top Performing Team at Cordell & Cordell.

Ms. Adams is a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association and a member of the Bar Association of Missouri, St. Louis (BAMSL).
