Growing up with divorced parents, Jason Bowman experienced first-hand the effects a divorce has on a family. That understanding of what his clients are going through helps him be a more effective family law attorney.

"What I like about family law is each case is different and you have to put together those puzzle pieces in order to reach an agreement," Mr. Bowman said.

As an adjunct law professor with Indiana Wesleyan University, Mr. Bowman teaches a class about negotiations and settlements that focuses on conflict, conflict analysis and how to deal with conflict.

"I think teaching this class is especially helpful when settling a case because there is a lot of anger and emotions that you need to get through to defuse the conflict and eventually move to the decisions that have to be made," he said.

Though he’s a trial lawyer at heart, Mr. Bowman recognizes that going to court is not always in the client’s best interest.

"It is my duty as your attorney to inform you of all your options, but even more importantly it is my duty to listen to the client," he said. "Your attorney is your best ally and advocate to the court. In order to help the client achieve their goals, an attorney must listen first."

Mr. Bowman practiced domestic relations for four years with a Louisville firm and practiced general law for one year. He is an adjunct professor with Indiana Wesleyan University where he teaches business law. Mr. Bowman has also written about divorce in Kentucky.

Mr. Bowman is a dedicated father and husband. He is a huge sports fan and enjoys watching and playing sports with family and friends. Mr. Bowman enjoys running and competing in races.
