Brittany Brown decided to pursue her career in family law because she enjoys helping individuals find solutions and navigate their way through difficult situations.

However, in order to accomplish this, Ms. Brown said it is imperative that the client is completely open and honest with their attorney from the very beginning.

"An attorney's role is not to judge the client’s life choices, but rather to provide solutions that will generate good results for the client," she said. "In order to create these results, the client must always be open and upfront to their attorney about all matters related to the litigation."

Education

Ms. Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Philosophy/Religion from Truman State University and received her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law.

Experience

During law school, Ms. Brown worked for a small plaintiff's litigation firm where she worked primarily on medical malpractice claims and worker’s compensation cases.

Additionally, during law school, she had a judicial externship through the Saint Louis University Legal Clinic with Judge Carolyn Whittington in Division 7 of the St. Louis Circuit Court.

In her final year of law school, she began working exclusively in family law. Ms. Brown was a Rule 13 Intern for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri in its Lasting Solutions Division, where she drafted divorce and paternity pleadings, interrogatories, motions, and settlement documents.

Additionally, she conducted Order of Protection Hearings and argued motions for Preliminary Injunctions for survivors of domestic violence.

Volunteer Work

Ms. Brown has worked at the St. Louis County Public Defender where she prepared the dockets of Probation Revocation Hearings each week, which included interviewing clients, meeting with probation officers, and outlining court files.
