Developing a legal strategy for her clients' cases is one of the most enjoyable aspects of being a family law attorney, according to Jennifer J. Gerdes-Drone.

"It is important to develop a strategy early in your case that facilitates open communication and suits your goals," Ms. Gerdes-Drone said. "You should know that I am aggressively fighting for your goals at each phase of your case."

Knowing that judges favor organized, concise arguments, Ms. Gerdes-Drone said she also has to be quick thinking in responding to new allegations and assertions of law.

"I believe clerking for a family law judge in law school gave me insight into how judges approach cases with weight given to various aspects of the case and development of judgments," she said.

Education

Ms. Gerdes-Drone graduated cum laude from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology, and a minor in Philosophy and Psychology. She subsequently received her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law.

She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Experience

Prior to working at Cordell & Cordell, Ms. Gerdes-Drone worked in general civil litigation, and focused her practice in the areas of products liability, premises liability and insurance defense litigation.

Other Qualifications

While attending law school, Ms. Gerdes-Drone worked as a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable John R. Essner of the Saint Louis County Family Court, where she assisted in research and legal drafting of divorce decrees and various orders of the court.
