Janet Yu Johnston said her background in real estate law, business law and estate planning helps her in family law cases.

Education

Ms. Johnston received her Bachelor of Arts in both English and Foreign Lanugage/International Studies from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. She later received her Juris Doctor from University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.

Experience

Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, Ms. Johnston practiced family law and real estate law, with a focus on business law and estate planning. Also, she interned at the Legal Aid Society, and was an Edwin H. Perry Fellow, which provided a scholarship to the Just Solutions Mediation Training in Louisville, Kentucky.

Other Qualifications

During law school, Ms. Johnston was a member of the Brandeis Law Journal, and Vice-President of Public Relations of the Moot Court Board.

Currently, Ms. Johnston is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and Alumni Ambassador for Bellarmine University.

Volunteer Work

Ms. Johnston has taken pro bono cases through Legal Aid Society and has worked with Divorce Clinics through the Louisville Bar Association.

Miscellaneous

Outside of her professional career, Ms Johnston is married and enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and baking. Also, she is involved with her church community and volunteers at various youth and children’s programs.
